Notes for: Solomon (Suliman) Bodine

These are Joan Bodine Davis's grandparents. She says they owned a restaurant in Michigan City, Indiana in the early 1900's. She said they had five children and gave the names I have here.

From Ronny Bodine:

Solomon Bodine came to America with his parents in 1894 and was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1903. In 1900, he lived in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois with his brother Joseph Bodine in a partnership in a confectionary business. In 1910, he lived in Michigan City, La Porte County employed as a car shop laborer. He reported that in 5 years of marriage his wife had borne 3 children, all then living. In 1917, he registered for the World War I draft in La Porte County stating he was then working as a confectioner and in 1930 was living in Michigan City, La Porte County. See the obituaries of Solomon and Rajoan Bodine in the Michigan City Dispatch of 22 Oct 1945 and 3 Nov 1948. Both were buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan Township, La Porte County.
