Effie / Alta Bodine

Her father's obituary says her name was Mrs. Alta Ogleby and that she was living in Topeka, Kansas in 1948.

According to info in the book "Boulder Fireplace," Alta was once bitten by a rattlesnake. She took a knife and cut the bite and drew out the poison with her mouth. The book also says that she attended a one-room schoolhouse (no. 98) near her house. She attended high school in Burlingame, but finished it at Emporia State College. She taught school for three years near the town of Admire, Kansas.

Alta was a church clerk for many years and state treasurer for women's work. She was a member of the Seabrook Home Demonstration Club in Topeka, Kansas. She "gave book reviews, readings, and made over her old hats."

On September 29, 1920, she married Gerald Ashton Ogleby. He died in 1966 of a heart attack after a tornado heavily damaged the duplex they were living in. She then married her childhood sweetheart, Elmer F. Steinbrink in 1968. They were living in Topeka as of 1973.

Her children by Gerald Ogleby were Myrna Doris and Geraldine Ruth. Myrna was born June 3, 1921 and Geraldine was born on May 11, 1927. Both were born in Topeka. There is more on their two children in the book mentioned above.

From Ronny Bodine:

Gerald Ogleby died in 1966 of a heart attack after a tornado heavily damaged the duplex they were living in. Elmer Steinbrink was buried in Wetmore Cemetery, Nehama County, Kansas with his 1st wife Zelma (1905-1966). Gerald Ogleby and Alta Steinbrink were buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
