On 5 June 1917, Percy Wilbur Mead registered for the World War I Draft in Beaumont, Texas. He reported he was born 26 July 1888 in Cedar Vale, Kansas, worked as a telegraph lineman and was married.

Percy W. Mead was 1st married to Anna Miller in 1912 and was living with her in 1920 in Parsons, Labette County, Kansas. By April 1930 he was married to Myrtle. [Note: There is no doubt the two men were the same as Percy with wife Anna in 1920 and Percy with wife Myrtle in 1930 both had fathers born in New York and mothers born in Vermont, in addition to both being born in Kansas and employed as linemen.]

1930 Memphis, Shelby Co., TN: Percy W. MEADE 41 KS RR lineman, Myrtle 36 KS wife, Leroy 17 KS son.

1940 Paola, Miami Co., KS: Percy W. MEAD 51 KS lineman-Frisco RR, Myrtle M. 47 KS wife.

From Missouri Death Certificate of Percy W. Mead, widowed, born 15 July 1888 in Cherryville, Kansas; died 15 Dec 1965 in St. Louis, buried in National Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee. Informant was Leroy Bateman, Memphis, TN.
