Notes for: Russell Conwell Bodine, Sr.

At first, I thought this might be the Russell Bodine who was born on 10-29-1890 and died in January of 1973. The SSDI says he resided in Oxford, Warren County, New Jersey. However, that doesn't look so possible now. FamilySearch.org says this Russell was married to Ruby Anna Tone.

Michael asked where I got Jean Bodine's name, but I don't have that reference now.

From Ronny Bodine:

On 5 June 1917 in Warren County, New Jersey, Russell Conwell Bodine registered for the World War 1 draft. He reported he was unmarried and employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

From New Jersey Marriage Records:
Russell C. Bodine AND Ada M. Snyder were married 1919. [Exact date and location not specified.]

In 1920, Russell and Ada Bodine lived in Phillipsburg, Warren County where Russell worked as a brakeman for the railroad. In 1930, he lived only with his 8-year old son, claiming he was still married though, and now working as a railroad fireman. Meanwhile, Ada S. Bodine, age 29, lived in Easton, Penn. with their daughter, Jeane E., age 4. It seems the couple reconciled, if that was indeed the cause of their separation, and the 1937-8 Phillipsburg Directory reflects Russell C. and Ada S. Bodine and their son Russell C. Jr., the latter, a student.

In 1942, Russell Bodine registered for the World War II draft as a resident of South Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey. Still married to Ada, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Ada (Snyder) Bodine was the daughter of Harry and Flora Snyder and was buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Phillipsburg, Warren County.
