Notes for: David 'Albert' Bodine

He is listed as David A. Bodine in the 1860 Census of Hardin County, Ohio (when he was one year old), but as Albert Bodine in the 1870 Census. Personally, I think his birth name was David Albert Bodine; however, he seems to have gone by the name Albert or Albert David Bodine. See some of the messages below on this topic.

Hi Dave, I was just checking the Bodine site and noticed that Mike's great grandfather's name is listed incorrectly. His name is Albert David Bodine. It is NOT David Albert Bodine. If you would like documentation; I have his death certificate.

Thanks!!

Debbie

Hi Dave, I found the death certificate. It is from Hardin County Ohio. Registration District 535; File #99, Primary Registration District #4788, Registered #148. His wife, Anna Bodine, is the one giving the info and she has his name listed as: Albert D. Bodine. He died of valvular insufficiency on 9/13/1919.

I also looked up the info on the census from 1860 and 1870. 1860 list him as: David A. age 1 year; 1870 list him as: Albert - age 11 years.

So now I am really confused. I will continue to look and see if there's more documentation.

Hi Dave, I did some 'refreshing' of the facts. Here is what I have on Albert Bodine. The 1860 census from Hardin County Ohio, Dudley Twp., his father, Abraham Bodine, gave this info. He named him in household as:

David A. Bodine/ age 1/ male

That is the ONLY place that it list his name that way. So I believe that his father had it right because he was the newest member of the Bodine household.

In Albert's obituary that his wife reported....she stated his name as Albert D. Bodine. I believe that to be inaccurate.

He rarely ever used the D. He always signed his name or all things written about him were Albert Bodine.

We don't have any new news on the Bodine side but we have been working on Mike's maternal grandparents and great grandparents. So that is interesting.

Hope you are doing well..if we find any new info; we will contact you.
