Notes for: George Washington Bodine

Kathleen Tetlow (ltsrmoyles at aol.com) has more on this family. The email address is that of her sister, Tricia Moyles. She says that George is buried in the Friend's Cemetery in Westbury, Long Island. Westbury is in the town of Hempstead, Nassua County, New York. In the 1915 Census of Rochester, Monroe Co., NY, George and his wife were listed. Also listed in his house were his son Howard and Howard's wife, Mae. Howard had two children listed: Oliver Howard and Cecile E. (a daughter).

From the census information below, the early censuses seem to show that George was born about 1852. The later census info seems to show that he was born about 1855. I would tend to go with the earlier date. In the 1900 Census, George said he was 48 years old and born in July of 1851 (or is it June?). That is probably his real birth date. I believe his tombstone says he was age "67 y, 6 m, 25 d" when he died. This would mean he was born about June 8, 1855. The transcription of his stone could be wrong, but I have not seen it. Whatever the case, his birth date is somewhat in doubt. I will go with July of 1851 for now.
