George Walton served with Company H, 16th Indiana Infantry from 16 Aug 1862 to 30 June 1865. He enlisted as a Corporal, but was reduced to a Private.

Mrs. Hannah Walton, wife of George B. Walton, and a sister of the late William A. Bodine, of Morristown, died Friday morning at her home in Indianapolis. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home, 641 E. Sixteenth street, and burial was made in East Hill cemetery, near Rushville.

George B. Walton of the firm of George B. Walton & Co., wholesale commission merchants at 207 East Maryland street, died in a sanitarium at Marion, O., yesterday, after an illness of several weeks. He was 76 years old. Mr. Walton was one of the oldest and most widely known commission merchants in Indianapolis, having been engaged in business in this city thirty-five years. He was born in Rush County and came to this city in his early youth. Starting in a modest grocery store he soon branched into the commission business. Several weeks ago he suffered a nervous breakdown and was removed to the sanitarium at Marion. The body will be brought to this city where funeral services will be held at the family residence, 641 East Sixteenth street.
