Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Poole, 83, of 4132 Griffing Drive in Port Arthur, were set for 2 p.m. Friday in the Grammier-Oberle 39th Street chapel with the Rev. Emmitt Barrow officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Grammier-Oberle 39th Street funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Poole, a resident of the Port Arthur area for 63 years, died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday in a local hospital. She was a member of the Methodist Temple, the Senior Citizens and the Golden Pilots.

Survivors include a son, James Everett Poole of Livingston; a daughter, Mrs. Elton Thompson of Port Arthur; a sister, Mrs. G. W. Wolfe of Port Arthur; a brother, John Bodine of Wanette, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews

Children: Everett James (c1911), Ernest (c1917), Beatrice E. (c1918).
David Poole registered for the World War I draft on 12 Sept 1919 in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas. He stated he was employed as a watchman for the Texas Company. The Poole family was living 1920-1930 in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, where David worked as a gate man for an oil refinery.
