Her name was also given as Jane Elizabeth. She is mentioned in her granfather's will (John Bodine). Her husband's name came from John Blake's will. Here is the relevant part: Vincent Bodine, son of John Bodine; and Eliza Jane wife of Jeremiah Smith, both children of John Bodine dec. who was a son of Jane Poillon, dec..." John Blake was Jane's brother.

Jane Bodine was bapt. Nov 1821 at St. Andrew's Protestant Episcopal Church, Richmond County, New York. The marriage of Jeremiah Smith and Jane Bodine was recorded in the records of St. Andrew's Protestant Episcopal Church only as Mr. Smith and Miss Bodine. In 1850, the Smith family was living in Northfield, Richmond County where Jeremiah worked as a carpenter.
