Notes for: Francis ("Frank") E. Bodine

I had wondered if Louise/Louisa Smith and Clara Smith were sisters. I then found the David and Maria Smith family in the 1880 US Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH. Both "Louisa Smith" and "Clara Smith," at the right ages, are in that household. So my estimated guess is that Louisa and Clara are sisters.

From Ronny Bodine:

The Rushville Republican (Rushville, Ind.) of Thursday, 19 March 1885.
Frank Bodine, who lately moved into Hancock county, a few miles east of Greenfield, had the misfortune to lose his house by fire last Friday night. Miss Ellen Bodine writes to her brother Charles, in this city, that the fire was first seen between nine and ten o'clock on that night. An effort was made to alarm the neighbors, but before any help could come from them the building was past saving. The dwelling, with most of its contents, the wood-house, smoke-house, and milk-house were all burned. The loss will amount to $2,500, with $1,500 insurance. The family were kindly cared for by excellent neighbors. The loss is a severe one, and evokes the sympathy of all their friends and acquaintenances in Rushville.

From The Rushville Republican (Rushville, Ind.) of Thursday, 19 Feb 1885.
Frank Bodine, of Greenfield, is to be married at Cincinnati today to Miss Lou Smith, of the latter city. We wish them happiness and prosperity.

From Hamilton County, Ohio Marriage Records:
Francis Bodine AND Louisa M. Smith were married 19 Feb 1885 by C. W. Barnes, Pastor of McLean M. E. C.
Francis Bodine AND Clara Smith were married 3 Feb 1892 by John W. Shorten, Minister of the M.E. Church.
