Brown McCarty registered for the World War I draft on 12 Sept 1918 in San Saba County, Texas. The McCarty family was living 1920 in San Saba County where Brown worked as manager of a grocery store, 1927 in Taylor County and 1930 in Snyder, Scurry County. Maymie McCarty was buried in Richland Springs Cemetery, San Saba County.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mayme Austin McCarty, 71, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Richland Springs, conducted by the Rev. George McHorse. Mrs. McCarty died Tuesday morning in San Saba Memorial Hospital following a stroke suffered at her home several days earlier. Born Nov. 3, 1887, at Mt. Vernon, Ill., the daughter of W. A. and Jane Marlow Bodine. She and a brother, B. M. Bodine, had made their home in Richland Springs for some time. She had spent most of her life in the county and was affiliated with the Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Luzell Poer of Amarillo and Mrs. Sue Vaughn of Dimmitt; two sons, M. P. McCarty of Grand Island, Neb., and W. H. McCarty of Odessa; four brothers, Guy Bodine of San Antonio, B. M. Bodine of Richland Springs, Plummer Bodine of New Mexico and Frank Bodine of Arizona; and 13 grandchildren. Pallbearers included George A. Miller, A. J. Harvey, Charlie T. Munsell, R. V. Lord, Billy J. Lewis and Glen Lewis. Burial was made in Richland Springs Cemetery, with arrangements in charge of Howell-Doran funeral directors.
