Notes for: Sarah Bodine

I think this is the Sarah Erwin listed in the household of her sister (sic), Mary Bodine, in the 1880 Census of Mansfield, Tioga Co., PA. She is 79 and born in PA (father PA, mother NJ). That is a guess, but I think it is probably correct. Mary would be Sarah's sister-in-law (widow of Frederick Bodine).

From Ronny Bodine:

In 1880, Mary Bodine, age 74, was head of a household in Mansfield, Tioga County, that included Sarah Erwin, age 79, who was noted as her sister. Mary Bodine's birthplace was noted as New York and there is no doubt that she was the widow of Frederick Bodine (1803-1878) and that Sarah Erwin was Frederick's sister so that the relationship between the two women was actually sister-in-law. This is further supported by the fact that Philetus and Sophronia Dorsett were next door neighbors of the two women. It was their daughter Henrietta Dorsett who became the wife of Frederick and Mary Bodine's son, Frederick Augustus Bodine (1803-1878).
