This news brought sorrow to a large circle of friends who have known him in Kenawee as well as to his wife and children, and to other relatives who survive him. Mr. McMullen had been ill for several years and for the past few months had been seriously sick. A complication of diseases caused his passing. Andrew G. Bodine, the ceremony taking place in Greenville, Pa. In 1876 Mr. and Mrs. McMullen came to New Windsor, where they resided until 1884, when they came to Kewanee. They were the parents of seven children, three of whom, one daughter and two sons, died at an early age. The four now living are C. F. McMullen, of Brush, Col.; Dr. Harvey C. McMullen are on their way to attend the funeral, besides the children, who are hastening to Kewanee. Dr. McMullen of Cambridge is already here also C. F. McMullen. Mr. McMullen has long enjoyed high respect here. He first came here as a butcher, opening a shop in the Chesley building. Later he rented the Hotel Main and conducted it for two years. He was chosen tax assessor several times and served the township with much credit. He was a member of the Congregational church and also of the Elks' lodge. Some years ago he purchased the old Harrison farm east of the city and sold it in building lots. He was widely known and highly respected throughout the county.
