Notes for: Jeannette ("Nettie") A. Bodine

I had her names as Hettie. That can be short for "Mehitable." However, the name Hettie appears to have been a mistake. RB has her name as Nettie A. Bodine. He said, "Nettie A. Bodine, age 9, was living 1870 with her parents in Philadelphia."

Ronny said, "The wife of Robert Lewis Bodine, Kate Y. Burn, should read Catherine Y. Burn. In 1910, Catherine Bodine, age 74, was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and George Costello in Philadelphia. She reported she had borne 4 children, all then living."

Hi, I have an old photo that I found behind an old framed picture. I believe it may be someone from your family. Did not want to throw it out before possibly finding a current family member to See if they wanted it first. The name on the photo is George Meade Costello taken in 1915. Thanks, C.Wilmont

From Ronny Bodine:

Nettie A. Bodine, age 9, was living 1870 with her parents in Philadelphia. The marriage of George Meade Costello and Jeannette, daughter of the late Gen. R. L. Bodine, both of Philadelphia, was reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer of 20 July 1899. Jeannette 'Nettie' was older than her husband and underreported her age over the years. In 1900, her birth was recorded as May 1866, 3 years younger than her husband. In 1910 she was 43 and in 1920 she was 58. By April 1930, George Costello was widowed. George Costello was president of a manufacturing company in Philadelphia in 1900 and in 1920 was living in Whitemarsh, Montgomery County where he was a factory executive. The couple had no children that survived.

From State of Pennsylvania Certificate of Death for Jeanette Bodine Costello: Born 3 May 1860 in Penn.; died 3 May 1920 in Whitemarsh, Montgomery County and was buried in West Laurel Hill Cemetery. Parents are Gen. Robert L. Bodine & Kate Burn. Informant was Mrs. T. Schroeter.
