Notes for: John Hanford Bodine

The Millspaugh book says he had two children.

He was living next to his father in the 1880 Census of Middletown, Orange Co., NY.

In April 1910, John Bodine, a city laborer, lived in Middletown, Orange County. He reported that in 34 years of marriage his wife had borne 2 children of whom 1 was living.

Mrs. Mary J., wife of John H. Bodine, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob S. Ballman, 75 Monhagen avenue, this morning, at 5:30, after a lingering Illness, aged 72 years, 5 months and 12 days. She was the daughter of Edgar and Mary (Davis) Wiggins, and with her husband has made her home in this city for a number of years, after their marriage, September 27, 1876. She is survived by her husband, and one daughter, Mrs. Ballman, and one adopted daughter, Miss Jane Collins Bodine. The funeral services wll be held at the home of her daughter on Monhagen avenue, on Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, and will be private. The interment will be in the family plot in the Wallkill cemetery at Phillipsburgh.

John Hanford Bodine, eighty, died of pneumonia Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. S. Ballman, at Middletown, where he had been ill five days. Funeral services were conducted at the home at eleven o'clock Tuesday morning and interment was in Kallkill cemetery. The Rev. Elbert W. Whippen of Christ Universalist church officiated. Mr. Bodine was born in Bloomingburg, February 1, 1850, and was a son of Frederick and Jemima Lockwood Bodine. He married Miss Mary Jane Wiggins in Middletown September 27, 1876, and lived here most of his life. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Ballman, Mr. Bodine is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Charles McKane; a brother, Charles V. Bodine and two nieces, Mrs. Louise Denmark and Mrs. John Kain.
