Edith was raised by George and Clarissa Bodine since Edith's mom died two weeks after she was born.

Clarence Wertman, 21, born in Goodrich, Michigan, son of Harvey and Sarah (Leib) Wertman AND Edith Bodine, 22, born in Genesee Township, Michigan, dau. of Ambrose Bodine, were married 17 Dec 1902 in Genesee by G. W. Stansbury, Clergyman, in the presence of William Bodine & Bertha Bodine.

On 12 Sept 1918, Clarence Edwin Wertman registered for the World War 1 draft in Flint, Michigan. He reported he was born 26 March 1882, worked as a machinist for the Buick Motor Company and his wife, Edith Mabel Wertman was his next of kin. In Jan 1920, Clarence and Edith Wertman lived in Flint, Michigan where Clarence worked as a carpenter.

From the Michigan Death Certificate of Clarence E. Wertman, husband of Edith M. Wertman and son of Harvey F. & Sarah M. (Leib) Wertman, born 28 March 1882 in Goodrich, Michigan, died of typhoid fever on 12 Aug 1920 in Flint, Genesee County and was buried in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Flint. Informant was Edith Wertman.
