On 5 June 1917, Wilfred Greenleaf Bodine registered for the World War 1 draft in Belnap County, New Hampshire. He reported he was born 21 May 1890 in Bellows Falls, Vermont, was unmarried and worked as a teacher for the town of Alton, New Hampshire. In 1930, he lived with his wife and 2 children in Windsor County, Vermont employed as a teacher and in April 1940 in Windham County where he worked as a plumber. Wilfred Bodine, who worked as a plumber later in life, died of pneumonia and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Bellows Falls. Bessie was the daughter of John and Abby Anna (Slate) Sheldon.

Wilfred Greenleaf Bodine, 27, of Alton, NH, born in Bellows Falls, VT, son of W. H. Bodine & Florence Stoddard AND Bessie Emogene Sheldon, 21, of Bellows Falls, born in Chester, VT, dau. of John J. Sheldon & Abbie Anna Slate, were married 18 July 1917 at Rockingham by S. H. Smith, Methodist Minister.

BELLOWS FALLS---Wilfred Greenleaf Bodine, 75, member of the plumbing firm of W. H. Bodine Sons founded by his father, died in Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He was graduated from the University of Vermont in 1914. His widow, Mrs. Bessie Bodine, is a past president of the Vermont Federation of Women's Clubs.

BELLOWS FALLS---Mrs. Wilfred Bodine, the former Bessie Sheldon, and past president of the southeastern district of the Vermont Federation of Women's Club and of the state department, American Legion Auxiliary, died Saturday at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Hanover, N.H. She was admitted last Wednesday after she suffered a heart attack. Born Nov. 1, 1895, she had attended Bellows Falls High School and taught for a year at Vernon. On July 19, 1917, she was married to Wilfred G. Bodine Sr., who died in May 1956. Mrs. Bodine was a member of the Vermont State Board of Welfare and had been a member of the national executive committee of the American Legion and had been area "A" rehabilitation chairman. Surviving are a son, Wilfred G. Bodine Jr. of Springfield; a daughter, Mary of Shahran, Saudi Arabia; three brothers, one sister; four grandchildren and an aunt. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the United Church.
