Orville Eichenberg, 76, who last August resigned as district school superintendency, died Thursday morning at his home, Brooks avenue, Monroe, following a relapse February 7. He had been in bad health since October, and had undergone operations at Roosevelt Hospital, New York. Mr. Eichenberg, widely known in educational circles, had been superintendent of the second Orange county supervisory district for 15 years, and previously was principal ot Monroe High school 25 years. In his 54 years of educational work, he had previously taught at Fallsburg, Pine Bush and Harriman. Mr. Eichenberg was born March 9, 1851 at Phillipsport, N. Y. son of Abram and Mary Jane Eichenberg. He went to school at Fort Edward, N. Y., and attended Pennington, N. J., academy. He was a trustee of the Monroe M. E. Church, for 85 years Sunday school superintendent and a member of Standard Lodge Ill, F. & A. M. He is survived by his wife, formerly Julia Bodine, of Pine Bush; two sons Ernest F. and Arthur Eichenberg, of Monroe; a grandson, Fraucis Eichenberg; and two sisters, Mrs. James Hoyt and Mrs. Charles Caldwell, both of Stamford, Conn. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon
at the home, with former pupils as pallbearers, burial in the Cemetery of the Highlands.
