Notes for: William Taylor, Rev.

Ruth Dengler (RDengler1@compuserve.com) is descended from this family.

Someone has said that he is probably the son of William and Lydia Leake Taylor. No source given.

Here is a message that I think came from the Genforum Message Boards:

In 1858 he was ordained into the Baptist ministry in Salford, Ontario, Canada. Before that time he was a blacksmith.

"Rev. William Taylor was born on 20 March 1823 at Leeds, Ontario, Canada. (The 1900 Census inform for son Charles states that his father was born in England)???? He married Elizabeth Bodine in 1843 at Ontario. Canada. His first wife, Elizabeth Bodine, died in 1849. He was educated in 1858 at Salford, Ontario. Canada (was ordained into the ministry. Before ordination he was a blacksmith. He died on 14 Feb. 1898 at Italy, Yates, NY at the age 74. He was buried at Townline Cemetery, Naples NY. Funeral sermon by Rev George H Ball.

His last hours were very peaceful, though pain until near the end was severe. His wife and one daughter, with her husband were at the bedside at the close. His youngest sister, a daughter and her husband from Ontario, Canada, did not reach him til the conflict was over. Ten children are living, but these two daughters were the only ones present at the funeral, as they are scattered far and wide, mostly in the West.

Brother Taylor was born March 20, 1823, in the county of Leeds, Ontario, Canada. His first wife was Elizabeth Bodine, who lived only six years after marriage, dying in 1849. In 1850 he was married to Mary Merilla Morse,
who, with all the ten children, survive him. He was at first a blacksmith, and followed that trade until 1858, when he was ordained to the Christian ministry at Salford, Ontario.
