Notes for: Dwight 'Webster' Bodine

My info says Dwight Bodine died at his home on Salt Road. I imagine Salt Road must be in Clarence. That's what I put as the place of death. The birth order of their children is probably not correct.

Here is a message I received concerning some connections to this Bodine line.

I was very impressed with your website! I am certain I am tied into your family tree through Vantines. I have been doing research for about 13 years but only recently starting delving deeply into my Vantine roots. My interest lies with my ancestors: Wilder VANTINE and his wife, Anna WEST. I searched in your database under West to find Joseph and Sarah West of England with a daughter, Esther West (who married a Bodine). Your info would fit if I was to guess that my Anna and your Esther were sisters. My Anna West was born around 1840 in England and died very young in the early 1860's. Her husband, Wilder Vantine (son of David Vantine and Eleanor Kipp of Clarence, NY) died young also as a result of wounds from the Battle of Antietam. This couple resided in Clarence, New York where their only son, William West Vantine was born.

Joseph and Sarah West are buried beside their daughter, Anna West, and her husband, Wilder Vantine in Fillmore Cemetery in Clarence, NY. I recently saw the gravesite.

I am interested to know more about the West family line. I am also interested in learning more of the Bodine ties to the Vantines. I was told that my great-great grandfather, William West Vantine, was raised by BODINES as both of his parents were deceased when he was a small child. I am certain there is a connection here. Hope you might confirm a few things for me. I was recently given copies of photos of Wilder Vantine and his wife, Anna West and would be happy to forward copies either via e-mail or snail mail.

Thanks for your time.

I later received another message from Richelle saying that a Vantine family member confirmed that it was Dwight and Esther (West) Bodine who had raised William West Vantine. This would seem to confirm that Anna West was probably Esther's sister.
