Notes for: Charity Berdine / Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

The marriage between Simpson Bennett and Charity 'Bowdine' was performed on 16 Feb 1843 by W. C. Lowson, J.P. in Wilson County. In her will of 1 Oct 1847, Penelope Bodine made a bequest to "Charity Bennet her lifetime then to her children." In Oct 1850, Charity Bennett, aged 41, headed a household in Wilson County that included Jane, 17 and Nancy 14, children of her husband's first marriage, four children of her own, and her spinster sister Winnefred. In Wilson County Deed Book P, p. 386, 3 July 1851, Simpson Bennett who married Charity is one of the eight heirs of John Bodine deceased. In 1860, Simpson Bennett and his family lived in Dunklin County, Missouri.

In 1860, Simpson Bennett and his family lived in Dunklin County, Missouri and by June 1870, Simpson Bennett was living with an unrelated family, an indication that Charity had likely died. Simpson Bennett is not evident in the 1880 census.
