Text: "Covington Ex-Farmer's Fall Fatal."
Covington --(CNS)--Joseph L. Bodine, 84, a retired farmer, died at 4 p. m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, as the result of shock and a fractured hip received in a fall at his home here three weeks ago.

Son of John and Caroline Brewer Bodine, he was born July 29, 1858 in Fountain County. He was married to Martha Susan Stanton who preceded him in death in 1940.

Surviving are a son, H. E. Bodine of Covington with whom he made his home; and four grandchildren....
Funeral services will be at the residence at 2 p. m. Friday. The Rev. George F. Beatly will officiate. Internment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Frank Y. Shelby, funeral director in charge.

In June 1900, Joe Bodine lived and farmed in Fountain County, Indiana. He reported that he and Susan had been married 8 years and that she had borne 2 children, both of whom were living with them.

Following an extended illness, Mrs. Martha Susan Bodine, 70, wife of Joseph L. Bodine of Covington, died at her home here at 10 a.m. Monday, February 26, 1940. She was born in Parke County, daughter of Martin and Mattie Stanton. In addition to the husband, she is survived by one son, Harry E. Bodine, Covington; four grand-children; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Coleman, south of Covington, Mrs. Nell Rhodes, Bismark, Illinois; and one brother, Fred Stanton, south of Covington. Funeral plans, as yet incomplete, are in charge of Frank Y. Shelby.
