Notes for: Frederick ("Fred") Bodine

I did have that this Fred was born on February 5, 1888 (Fountain Co., IN) and that he died on September 21, 1968 (Milwaukee, WI). However, that appears to be the information for another Fred Bodine. (The SS # for the Fred Bodine who died in September of 1968 is 387 07 3683.) From data that Debbie Bodine sent me, this Fred, husband of Ruby Hurd, was born in August of 1899 and died in 1965.

Frederick (Fred) BODINE/Ruby HURDHi Dave, I thought I should let you know that this info for this Fred Bodine is incorrect. I only know this after doing some research on 2 Fred Bodine's both being born in the same city. This Fred Bodine in your site below was not married to Ruby Hurd. I have a copy of the obit listing for this Fred Bodine here. If you are interested in what I know.....please email me back. I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Fred Bodine was married to Ruby Hurd. He died in 1965 and is buried in West Lebanon Cemetery outside of Williamsport, Indiana with his wife and children. His wife, Ruby Hurd, and 4 of their 5 children were killed on March 6, 1925 by a train. They were in their car and the train went off the track and struck them. They all were killed including a cousin of Ruby's, Clara Hurd, was her name. She was from Marysville Ohio. I do not know who Fred Bodine's parents are. There are conflicting reports on the websites that I've looked at.

I only became interested in this when a friend of mine came across the Bodine name while doing research in Union County Ohio. It appeared in a newspaper article there because Clara Hurd was from there. She was helping Ruby in the care of her children. The 4 children and Ruby and Fred are all buried in the same cemetery. I also believe that Fred Bodine was born in 1888. That is the info that was printed in a cemetery book in Indiana. But it is possible that it could be incorrect. I have contacted a few people to help me find it out. I will send you more info as I receive it.

The fred bodine that died in 1968....died in Milwaukee Wisconsin on September 21, 1968.....he was 80 years old. His children are: Gerald L Bodine of Lawton, Michigan; Win Bodine of Milwaukee, father-in-law of Anne K Bodine and Kathryn Bodine. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Milwaukee. I have the obit listing posted in the Milwaukee Journal (dated) Monday, September 23, 1968.

I know that the other Fred Bodine did die in 1965 but I do not know where. But he is Ruby's husband. There was one child left living at the time of Ruby and her children's death. She was at school. Her name is Elsie Mae. I saw her married name on your site. That helped me tremendously!! I wanted to know if she married and what happened to her. It is possible that she could still be living. She was 8 at the time of her mother's death, which makes her birthdate between 1916 and 1917.

Any news that you can shed on this subject of Fred and fred Bodine would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea if either one of them are related to our branch of Bodines. I saw the obit of the family.....and of course; my interest was raised.
