Mary Bodine was living 1860-1870 with her grandparents, Joel and Leah Bodine. The marriage of R. S. McCombs, M.D. of Philadelphia and M. Ella Bodine of Williamstown at the Green Street M.E. Church in Philadelphia was reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer of 5 April 1878.

Dr. Robert S. McCombs died yesterday at his residence, 628 North street, after a month's illness. The prevalent malady, grip, accompanied by complications, was the cause of his death. He was graduated from the University in 1868 and the degree of doctor of philosophy was conferred upon him in 1875. He was a member of the Philadelphia County Medical Society. He was 50 years of age and is survived by his son, Robert S. McCombs, Jr. The funeral will take place Saturday at noon from the Green Street M.E. Church, of which he was a trustee.
