Notes for: Charles Terbell Bodine

In the marriages at the DRC in Montgomery, New York, there is a Charles T. Bodine who married a Crissie Terwilliger on September 10, 1840. I would bet it was this Charles. They are both listed as being from Walden. Ralph Weller also suspects that Crissie Terwilliger is this Charles' wife. Crissie is probably the Ann Lucretia Bodine buried in the Montgomery DRC Cemetery. She died July 28, 1841 at age 21-11-19 (b. 8/9/1819). She is listed as the wife of Charles T. Bodine. She was probably the daughter of Nathaniel Terwilliger and Sarah Constable. They had a daughter baptized at the Shawangunk DRC who was born on August 28, 1818 (I think this is what my source said).

This Charles married Susan Cranse Bodine on March 2, 1848 in Montgomery, NY. I did have the date and place as 1849 in Walden, but there was no source for that info. The source for the 1848 date is Vital Records Orange County 1847-1849: Marriages
- 3/2/1848 Charles T. Bodine of Montgomery age 30 to Susan C. Bodine of Montgomery age 24 @ Montgomery.

From Ronny Bodine (Jan. 18, 2021):

1st marriage--1840--ANN LUCRETIA (CRISSIE) TERWILLIGER.
From Brick Reformed Church of Montgomery, Orange County, Marriages:
10 Sept 1840 Charles T. Bodine of Walden and Crissie Terwilliger of Walden. Witnesses were David Crist & Samuel Sears.

Crissie Terwilliger and Ann Lucretia appear to be the same individual despite the conflict in her birth date. It may be that she was born 1 Aug 1818 and baptized 28 Aug 1818, leaving her age at death in error by one year.

From Shawangunk Dutch Reformed Church, Ulster County, Baptisms:
Ann Lucretia Terwilliger, bapt. 28 Aug 1818. Parents-Nathaniel I. Terwilliger & Sarah Cunstable.

Burials in the Brick Reformed Church Cemetery, Montgomery, Orange County.
From inscriptions copied August 1924. Two entries for the same burial.
