Notes for: Mary Stites

I have her name as "Stites" but Denise Oliver-Velez (deoliver@pipleline.com) sent info saying it could be "Stiles." Denise said the birth (or death?) year might be 1828 or 1829. The marriage record gives her name as Mary Stites.

Here are a couple of messages about this:

Hi Dave,

Finally tracked down Elisha's marriage record:

Mary Stites found in:
Marriage Index: Selected Counties of Ohio, 1789-1850
Married: June 28, 1821 in: Hamilton Co., OH
Spouse: Bodine, Elisha
Gender: F
More: Family History Library, Salt Lake City, UT, Film #s 0344451-0344463.

Her d.o.b is listed as 17 Oct 1802, Hamilton OH

I've been looking for Styles all along - but got a tip from Hamilton County researcher to look under Stites.

Response:
Denise,

So do you think her last name was actually Stites or Stiles? If it is Stiles, why do you think that?

Dave

Well Dave I'm not sure what to think - the family bible record (see below) which has been copied and re-copied says Stiles - but the LDS record from Ohio says Stites - and doing a search of the history of that county - there are many Stites (early settlers) and not Stiles.
