Notes for: Cornelius W. Bodine
I am guessing by the burials at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Hunterdon County, New Jersey that this is the Cornelius W. Bodine buried there. I had a birthday of July 10, 1823 for this Cornelius before seeing the Sandy Ridge info. This Cornelius died in 1904 being 81 years old. That means he would have been born about 1823. Benjamin, his father, is buried there, too. He and his wife, Miriam, appear on the 1895 Census of Hunterdon County in Delaware Township. Carol Morris agrees that he is Benjamin's son.
Tracy St. Claire is in possession of Cornelius' Family Bible. It doesn't have many dates in it except for births for this family of four and two marriage dates. This info is at my Archives page and see below:
Tracy wrote this about the Bible:
- The Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments, Hartford: S. Andrus and Son, 1850. Hills #1420.
- This Bible is in good condition. The binding is intact with cracks and chipping. The pages are all present with the marbled endpages. There seems to be some minor water damage, but altogether a clean copy. Some foxing. No hair, news clippings, etc that are sometimes found.
