Notes for: Jacob Bodine

There may be errors in this information. I found a Jacob and Mary Bodine in the 1880 Census of Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ who kind of fit with the info I have so far on this family. However, the date of birth of Henry is way off. Jacob is a dentist. He is 45 and born in NY, as well as both of his parents. Mary is 35 and born in TN. Her father was born in Ireland and her mother in TN. Daughter Mary B. Bodine is 14 and born in NY. Son Henry B. Bodine is 4 and born in NY.

I found a Jacob L. Bodine married to a Mary Ann F. Randolph in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1763-1900. They were married in Peoria County on October 29, 1850. I would think that she would be the Mary Randolph Bankhead I have listed here as Jacob's wife. Mary's maiden name was probably Randolph instead of Bankhead, but I'll leave things as they are for now.

The LDS site at www.FamilySearch.com had conflicting information on this Jacob. They had him born in 1815, 1817 and 1835 in a number of records. The date 1835 seems to fit better here since his mother was born about 1802. Henry Bankhead Bodine could be his son. If so, Mary Randolph Bankhead would be his wife. In Clute's "Old Families of Staten Island," he says that Jacob had sons named Jacob and Albert.

I'm thinking that this Jacob may have died young, but that is just a guess right now. See Notes for Albert, his brother.

From Ronny Bodine:

Jacob Bodine was bapt. 12 April 1836 at the Port Richmond Dutch Reformed Church. In 1880, he was practicing dentistry in Jersey City and in 1910 was living in Bayonne, Hudson County, New Jersey. He was still practicing dentistry at the age of 75, but appears to have been separated from his wife. Living with him in 1910 were several nieces and nephews, the children of his sister Annie Bodine Post.
