Transcriber's note - Nathaniel Brittain/Britten/Britton is my ancestor, through the mentioned son Nathaniel. His wife was probably Mary; it is speculated that her maiden name was Fountain. janetb@bigfoot.com I have tried to keep intact all spelling and punctuation; however I did add line breaks for ease of reading.

End of message from Janet.

Janet also wrote:

Bill, Nathaniel leaves property etc. to "my four Sons, that is to say, Nathaniel and Joseph and Antone and William." He didn't mention Abraham in that list because Abraham was deceased, though still a son. I believe there was also a sixth son, Richard, who must have died childless by the time the will was written.

I don't KNOW that Abraham was deceased, but it's the only answer that makes any sense. Hope this helps.

Wayne (WayneLII@aol.com) said this about Nathaniel's mother, Catherine Britton:

I think that Catharine's mother was Mary Fountain. I found the baptism for Catharine and it has her birth as April 6, 1757. The church was St. Andrew's Church in Richmond, Staten Island ("Staten Island Church Records," by Tobias Wright, p. 247): born April 6, 1757 - parents Nathaniel Brittain & wife- child-Katharine. She had a brother, Richard: (p. 255): born March 22, 1766 - parents Nathaniel Brittain & Mary his wife- child-Richard.
