Notes for: Isaac Bodine
His wife might be the Gertrude Brokaw buried in the McNeil Cemetery southeast of Ovid, New York. I think she is listed as the wife of Isaac Bodine. Gertrude was born August 30, 1814 and died April 1, 1890. I need to check the NYGBR, v. 101, no. 4 (October 1970) issue to see which Bodines are buried in this cemetery.
In the 1880 Census of Ovid, Seneca Co., NY, the head of household is Gertrude Brokaw and Isaac is listed as not directly related to her. He is a laborer living with her. He is 69 and born in NY. His father was born in PA and his mother in NJ. Gertrude was born in NY and her parents in NJ. She is "keeping house."
This family is discussed in Edson Payson Bodine's article "The History of the Branch of the Bodine Family Founded by Cornelius Bodine, A Soldier of the Revolution, and a Pioneer of the Lake Country of Central New York" (1897). It is not a well-documented article, but the later genealogies are probably pretty accurate. His earlier genealogies may have more mistakes. He does not list any family for this Isaac Bodine.

1870 Ovid, Seneca County: Caroline Patterson 57 NY keeps house, Isaac Bodine 58 NY retired farmer.
1880 Ovid, Seneca County: Gertrude Brokaw 65 NY single keeping house, Isaac Bodine 69 NY single boarder.
Death Notice, Saturday Morning Review (Farmer Village, N.Y.) of 14 April 1888.
Ovid Centre. Isaac Bodine died Tuesday evening last at 10 o'clock. He was stricken with paralysis about 5 p. m., and was unconscious until he died. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ballagh, of Lodi, at the house at 9 p. m., Thursday.
