Notes for: Charles Bodine

I did have a birth date of 1797, but I think the 1803 date may come from his obituary. I'll go with that.

This is probably the couple listed on the 1860 Census of Burlington County, Bordentown Township (roll 685, p. 742), but it is not for sure.

From Ronny Bodine:

Charles Bodine Junr. was recorded in the 1830 census as living in Chesterfield Township, Burlington County aged 20-30, as was his wife. No one else lived in their household. Charles Bodine was Collector for Chesterfield Township 1846-1847 and 1858-1859. In 1860, he was living in Bordentown with his wife and son Ellis and gave his occupation as cordwinder. The will of Charles Bodine, of Bordentown, written 8 Feb 1866, was proved 29 March 1870. Therein, he named his wife Margaret, adopted daughter Helen R. Neal, wife's niece Rebecca Hensman of Philadelphia, sister Mary Ann Paxon, wife of Loraine Paxson of New York, and others who had no stated relationship--Adalaide Rogers, wife of William Rogers, Amanda Pierson, and Martha Bodine. Executors were his wife Margaret and Rev. George H. Neal. An inventory was filed 29 March 1870 by Margaret Bodine and George H. Neal. (Burlington Co. Wills, M: 63 and Inventories, K: 354). Margaret Bodine was living 1870 in Bordentown. She was recorded then as Margaret Bowdine, age 60, a native of New Jersey. Charles and Margaret Bodine were buried in Bordentown Cemetery.
