Notes for: Joshua E. Bodine

There is a Joshua Bodine in the 1880 Census of Pittsburgh, PA, but I don't think it is this Joshua since he supposedly died in 1874. I will put the info here just in case.

From Ronny Bodine:

The marriage of Joshua E. Bodine to Mary S. Clevenger was reported in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 5 June 1851. The Bodine family resided in Westhampton Township, Burlington County where in 1860 Joshua engaged in farming and in 1870 worked as a raidroad ticket agent and in 1880 lived in Northampton Township working as a ticket agent. The "New Jersey Mirror" of 28 Sept 1881reported that "Joshua E. Bodine, formerly, in charge of the railroad station at Smithville, has resigned his position and intends removing to Sheldon, Iowa, with his son-in-law, Allen W. Sleeper. Mr. Bodine's successor has not yet been appointed." It does not appear Joshua made the move to Iowa, or if he did, it was of short duration. His funeral was held at the residence of his sister Rebecca Bodine in Unionville, Burlington County. See his obituary in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 15 Aug 1894. Mary Bodine, now a widow, was living 1900 with her daughter and son-in-law, Emma and Allen Sleeper in Clay County, Iowa. Mary Bodine reported she had borne only 1 child and who was still living. In 1910, she was still living with the Sleepers, now in Sheldon Township, O'Brien County, Iowa.
