Notes for: George Washington Bodine

There is a Georgette Bodine who is buried in the Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Keyser, West Virginia. There is a web page for the cemetery at Rootsweb. There is a birth record in the Mineral County court records saying, "Georgette Bodean, born Aug 12, 1866 in Ohio, daughter of George and Sarah F. Bodean. Another note there says that George was brakeman for the B&O RR. Georgette died on February 8, 1870. On the tombstone, her mother is listed as Sarah M. Bodine. This may or may not be this family. I'm just guessing.

George W. Bodine served McClellan Township as tax assessor in 1878 and 1882 and as tax collector in 1877, 1879 and 1881.

This George appears to be buried in the South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Jefferson Co., IL. It says he was born in 1837 instead of 1838 and that he died in 1919.

From Ronny Bodine:

George and Sarah Bodine were buried in South Hickory Hill Christian Church Cemetery, Jefferson County. His gravestone records the year of his birth as 1837, whereas the 1900 census gives the date of April 1838. George W. Bodine served McClellan Township as tax assessor in 1878 and 1882 and as tax collector in 1877, 1879 and 1881. In June 1900, Sarah Bodine stated she had borne 10 children of who 8 were then living. In 1920, now widowed, Sarah Bodine was living in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Lepton and Henrietta Harpole, in Jefferson County.
