John A. Holmes, of Joplin, Jasper County, with the consent of his father John O. Holmes AND Gracy Bodine, of Joplin, with the consent of her father, J. T. Bodine, were married 27 Oct 1901 in Joplin, Jasper County by J. M. McAdams, J.P.

The Hetherington family was living 1920 in Five Mile Township, Newton County, Missouri where Roscoe was engaged in farming. Grace's son, John T. Holmes, age 14, was living with the family.

Mrs. Grace Hetherington, 58 years old, 2418 Moffet avenue, died unexpectedly in St. John's hospital at 7 o'clock yesterday morning. She underwent a major operation last week, but her condition apparently had improved. Mrs. Hetherington was a sister of Mrs. Grover (Red) Wilson of El Paso, Tex., who is enroute here to attend the funeral of her husband, former Joplin baseball official, who died Sunday night at an El Paso hospital. Mrs. Wilson is expected here early today with her daughter, Mrs. Carl Horst. A double funeral service for Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Hetherington will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Parker-Hunsaker chapel, with the Rev. R. E. Shields in charge. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Wilson's body will arrive this morning. Mrs. Hetherington is survived by her husband, Roscoe Hetherington; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Elliott of Garden City, Kan., Mrs. Lois McDonald of Joplin and Patsy Hetherington, at home; four sons, John Holmes and Clyde and Jack Hetherington of Picher and Gene Hetherington, in the U.S. army; three sisters, Mrs. Zolie Clayton of Wichita, Mrs. Mabel Wilson of El Paso and Mrs. Mattie Schmitz of Ponca City, Okla.; two brothers, Clyde and J. C. Bodine, both of Joplin, and her mother, Mrs. Dixie M. Bodine, 2419 Bird avenue.
