In 1900, William Bodine lived with his family in Flemington, Raritan Township, Hunterdon County in the same house as his parents. He reported that he worked as a merchant, had been married 15 years, and that his wife Cora had borne 3 children, but only 2 were then living. In 1910, William Bodine's household included his mother. In 1930, William and Cora Bodine, aged 65 and 66, lived in Flemington, where William was engaged as a retail merchant. Cora (Slater) Bodine was the daughter of Gabriel H. and Emeline (Metler) Slater.

FLEMINGTON, Ja. 12.---The funeral of Mrs. Cora Slater Bodine, wife of William H. Bodine, of Mine Street, who died Saturday night following a long illness, will be held from the Holcombe Funeral Home tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Fred G. Hubach, pastor of the Methodist Church, will conduct services, and burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Bodine was born August 23, 1863, the daughter of the late Gabriel and Emeline Metler Slater. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Frank, of Flemington; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Herr, of Dunellen, and six grandchildren.

Flemington---William Henry Bodine, 78, died at his home, 9 Mine St., Tuesday (Apr. 13, 1943). Funeral services will be held from the Holcombe Funeral Home Friday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Fred G. Hubach, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Bearers will be George R. Parker, Russell Parker, Guy R. Bell, David Levinson and Albert Kinnet. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Mr. Bodine was a retired hardware merchant and was born in Flemington, Apr. 17, 1864, the son of the late Jesse P. and Mary Whitaker Bodine. He received his early education in the public schools here and was graduated from a business college in New York. He first became associated in the hardware business with his father in 1882 and at the time of his father's death in 1890 entered into partnership with his brother, Frederick J. Bodine. Interested in the civic affairs of the community, Mr. Bodine at one time served as a member of the Common Council and for nine years was a member of the Board of Education. He was a trustee of the Prospect Hill Cemetery Association, and was an active member of the Methodist Church, serving on the Official Board. Mr. Bodine was formerly active in fraternal organizations. He was associated with Darcy Lodge 37, F. and A. M.; Clinton Chapter, RAM; Hugh de Prayen Commandery, Knights Templar; Lulu Temple, Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine; the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and Encampment of Odd Fellowship. On Oct. 6, 1885, Mr. Bodine married Cora Slater of Frenchtown. She predeceased him. Surviving are one son, Francis, of Flemington; a daughter, Mrs. Mary B. Herr of Dunellen; six grandchildren; and one brother, Fred J. Bodine of Flemington.
