Notes for: Lorinda Bodine

There is information on this family at http://www.huntertownhistoricalsoc.org/families/Surfus.htm.

Dianna Alaniz wrote all the following:

They married 31 Aug 1856 Allen Co, IN and Allen BODINE was the witness. I also found them listed under Noble Co, OH at the LDS, but the Allen Co, IN is an extract from legal documents. I obtained information on their son William thru the LDS Ancestral Records, as someone is doing that direct line. This last name can also be spelled SURFACE. Charles Finton, son-in-law of Lillie Whitehead says she was born the date stated but in the census records show Abt 1839.

I found them listed in the 1860 Allen Co, Cedar Creek Twp, IN census and Peter was 23, a farmer born in Ohio. Lorinda was 25. Their children: Eventus L. age 2 and born in Indiana. There was a Calvin SURFUS age 16 living with them which might be PeterÆs brother. Right next to their name is a William CHESTER, age 32 and a carpenter who was married to a Lucinda age 29. I think she might have been LorindaÆs sister but have no proof yet. They had children: Sarah E. age 10 born in Ohio, William age 4 born Ohio and Emily J. age 2 born Indiana.

From Ronny Bodine:

In June 1900, Peter Surfus lived with his 2nd wife and their children in Noble Township, Noble County, Indiana engaged in farming. Lorinda Surfus was buried in Wolflake Cemetery, Noble County, Indiana. Her grave marker notes she was the wife of Peter and provides the exact dates of her birth and death.
