Notes for: Allen Bodine

He may not be a child of this family. He did not show up on the 1870 Census of Allen County, Indiana. Maybe he died in the Civil War.

In June 1860, Allen Bodine lived with his wife and son in Allen County, Indiana employed as a laborer. On 17 Nov 1864, Allen Bodine, of Allen County, enlisted as a Private in Company I, 29th Indiana Infantry Regiment (USA), died 14 April 1865 and was buried in Nashville National Cemetery. On 14 May 1865, Thisby Ann Bodine filed for a widow's pension which was approved. In June 1880, Thisby Ann Bodine, widow, lived with her 16-year old daughter, Gianetta, in Cedar Creek, Allen County and in June 1900, as T. A. Bodine she lived alone in Wayne Township, Allen County reporting that she was a widow and had borne 3 children, all still living. In Jan 1920, she lived with her daughter, Gianetta Hirschmiller, in Newtown, Livingston County, Illinois. The Illinois death record for "A. Bodine" wife of Allen Bodine, reports she was the daughter of John and Eliza (Pepple) Keyder and that she was buried in Leo Cemetery. Manilla Bodine was buried in Leo Cemetery, Cedar Creek, Allen County. She was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Edmonds) Rathburn.

BODINE - Mrs. T.A. Bodine, age 87, a former resident of this city, is dead at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.W. Hirshmiller, Waterman, Ill. She fell two years ago and had been ill since that time. The body will be brought to his city and taken to the home of a daughter, Mrs. A.J. Paff, 617 Riverside Ave., where funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon...Besides the two daughters, she is survived by a son, John E. Bodine of Charlotte, MI.
