Moira sent me the picture below of George Orville Bodine and his first wife, Mary Elizabeth (Gay) Bodine. She said it was taken about 1945.

George O. Bodine, 22, of Lansing, soldier, born in Medford, Oklahoma, son of James D. Bodine & Minnie Rea AND Mary Elizabeth Gay, 21, of St. Johns, nurse, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, dau. of W. V. Gay & Cora Jane Robinson, were married 1 Nov 1925 in St. Johns, by Martin Luther Fox, Clergyman.

In 1930, George Bodine lived with his family in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan where he was engaged as an instructor with the U.S. Army. George Bodine retired on 18 May 1951 as a U.S. Army Major after 30 years of service. Gwen (Halter) Bodine is the daughter of Colonel Bryan S. Halter.

Word of the death of Mrs. George O. Bodine of pneumonia, in Venice, Italy, has been received by friends here. Her husband is a major in the regular army and has been stationed in Italy about a year. During several years of residence here, Mrs. Bodine was active in the Kappa Mother's Club, and their daughter attended the University of New Mexico. She is now Mrs. Jack Shanahan Jr., and resides in Washington, D. C.
