Hello Dave,

Ed and I made a trip up to Fountain County, Indiana yesterday, and we visited the rurral grave sites of two interesting Bodines. The first is the tombstone for a William Bodine who died April 25, 1881. We had seen two very different references that this was either an adult or a very young child, so we wanted some definitive information. I studied the tombstone very carefully, and you MIGHT be able to define the same information in the following images: Across the very top of the stone, above the pointing hand, it says "Gone Home" - then below the hand, it says,
"WILLIAM BODINE"
"DIED"
"April 25, 1881"
"AGED"
"About 49 years"

This makes this an adult William Bodine who was born about 1832. I believe this is the son of William and Rebecca Marlatt-Bodine, who married Susan Rhodes. This stone is located in rural Fountain County Cemetery in the Heath-Old Union Cemetery.

William Bodine married Susan A. Rhoades on 22 Nov 1857 in Fountain County.
John H. Guffey married Susan Bodine on 6 March 1887 in Fountain County. [Note: John H. Guffey 4 Feb 1832-12 Aug 1898 in Harveysburg, Ind.]

From Fountain County, Indiana Marriage Records:
John H. Guffey AND Susan Bodine were married 6 March 1887 by Thomas C. Davis, M.G.

From the Indiana Death Certificate of Susanna Guffey, widow of John H. Guffey: born 13 Jan 1833 in Ohio to Joseph & Susanna (Burkey) Rhodes, died 21 June 1904 in Covington, Fountain County, buried in Kingman, Ind. Chas. Bodine of Danville, IL, informant.
