Stauffer, aged 18, born in Sheadsville, Texas, enlisted 27 June 1898 in Brooklyn NY as a Private in Company M, 22nd Infantry Regiment and was mustered out 23 Nov 1898 at Fort Slocum, New York. [Note: There is no Sheadsville in Texas, but there is a Headsville, in Robertson County. The community may no longer exist.]

She was the widow of Albert Stauffer. Mrs. Stauffer was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Andrews, Keyport; two other grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Day's Funeral Home, Keyport, is in charge of arrangements
